Qiva terms of use
Effective date: October 16, 2026
Last updated: October 16, 2026
These Terms of Use ("terms") are an agreement between you and Wallizada LLC ("Qiva," "we," "us") about your use of the Qiva app and related services (the "service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use Qiva.
Qiva was previously called the veil. These terms replace earlier versions, and references to "the veil" in them mean Qiva.
1. What Qiva is
Qiva is a public journal for private thoughts. You write entries, optionally tie them to a place or a film, record voice memos, and read and reply to what others have written. Qiva is for personal expression. Nothing in Qiva is advice, whether medical, psychological, legal, financial, or otherwise, and you should not rely on it as such.
2. Who may use Qiva
You must be at least 17 years old, or older if your country's age of digital consent is higher, and able to form a binding agreement.
3. Your account
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your email and sign-in methods secure. Tell us at hello@qiva.me if you think someone else is using your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
Your handle must not impersonate anyone or mislead people about who you are. We may reclaim a handle that breaks these terms.
4. Your content
"Your content" means your entries, replies, voice memos, messages, handle, and anything else you submit.
- You own your content. You keep every right you already have in it.
- Our license to run Qiva. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, and display your content only to operate and provide the service. That includes showing your public entries to other people, checking them for safety, and generating your writer's line and Insights from them. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law or for safety records.
- Posted entries are public. Anyone using Qiva can read them with your handle. Direct messages are private to the people in them, except when one is reported.
- You are responsible for what you post. You confirm that you have the rights to it and that it does not break these terms or the law.
5. Writing about other people
Qiva is a place to write about your life, and your life includes other people. Write about them with care.
- Casting. Qiva may replace a real person's name in your writing with a stand-in word before it posts. Casting lowers the chance that someone is recognized, but it is not a guarantee. Details you write can still identify a person.
- You may not post somebody else's personal information (such as an address, phone number, or workplace), a threat to a specific person, or a targeted attack on a real person or group.
6. What you may not do
You agree not to:
- threaten, harass, or target a real person or group;
- share somebody else's personal information without their permission;
- post anything illegal, including content that exploits or endangers children;
- impersonate anyone, or post spam or automated content;
- try to identify a writer who has not identified themselves;
- scrape, copy in bulk, or reverse engineer the service or other people's data;
- interfere with the service or try to get into parts of it you are not allowed to reach;
- use Qiva to track, surveil, or harm anyone.
7. Safety checks, reports, and moderation
Every entry, reply, and edit is checked before it posts, partly by an automated system, as described in our privacy policy. An entry that fails a check does not post. An entry may wait privately while a check finishes, and an entry found to break these terms may be held instead of published.
You can report any entry, reply, or person from the app, and block anyone. We review reports and may remove content, hold it, or suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk, with or without notice. To appeal a decision, write to hello@qiva.me.
We do not promise to review everything posted, and we are not responsible for content other people post.
8. Membership
Some features, such as Insights, need a paid membership. Membership is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store.
- The price is shown before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple account when you confirm.
- It renews automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple account settings at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not refund the current period.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
9. Our service and intellectual property
The service, including its software, design, brand, and original content, belongs to us and our licensors. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose. These terms give you no rights in our name or brand.
The service relies on third parties, such as Apple, Google, Supabase, and OpenAI. Their own terms may apply to your use of their services.
10. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any content in it is true. Content on Qiva is written by people and is subjective. Do not rely on it as fact.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or USD $50. Some places do not allow these limits, so some may not apply to you.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Wallizada LLC and its affiliates from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the service, or your breaking these terms or the law.
13. Ending your use
You may stop using Qiva and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or to protect the service or other people. Sections that should naturally survive (sections 4 and 9 through 14) continue after your access ends.
14. Apple
If you use Qiva on an Apple device, these terms are between you and Wallizada LLC, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for any claims about it. If the app fails to meet a warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of its purchase price, if any. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
15. Changes, governing law, and contact
- Changes. We may update these terms as Qiva changes. If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app. If you keep using Qiva after a change, you accept the updated terms.
- Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts in California, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
